BORN AGAIN
Gu Gu is a contemporary artist from Nyaung Shwe, Southern Shan State, known for his emotionally charged and visually arresting works. A graduate of the National University of Arts and Culture in Yangon, he first gained attention through series such as "Sacrificial Victim" and "Age Off", which explored themes of struggle, pressure, and the human condition. A personal crisis later redirected his creative focus, transforming intense emotional periods into a practice centered on renewal and self-understanding. Working in mixed media including canvas, glue, scrap metal, oil, acrylic, and chalk, Gu Gu builds layered portraits shaped by systems, boundaries, and resilience. Born Again, his third solo exhibition, is part of the 55 Red Dot series which centers on the Red Sun, under which all humanity exists, shaped and sometimes constrained by various systems: political, biological, social, economic, and cosmic. Each painting explores three elements: the Sun, the System, and the Human. The series explores the notion of the "sacrificial victim": anyone navigating systems they did not choose. Yet every sacrificial victim is also a survivor, rising beyond constraints imposed upon them. The number 55 signifies the intention to create 55 portraits, each capturing universal human experience beneath the same sun.

Ek Kha Ya
by Htein Lin
To read language is one thing, but to witness it burn, creep, and breathe across a canvas is another. The word 'Ek Kha Ya' means 'alphabet' in Burmese. It explores Myanmar script as both material and method, a visual system encoding memory, resistance, and identity.
